Consultation

Your first appointment will be a consultation. It begins with a discussion of your dental issue and concerns. To assist with our diagnosis, we will take at least three X-rays of the area of interest (even if your dentist has provided some for us), and perform a brief clinical examination. If necessary, we may also take images using the CBCT scanner. We will then review with you your X-ray and scan results, our diagnosis, and our recommended treatment options.

Root Canal Treatment

Our primary goal in performing a root canal is to save your tooth. We will remove the inflamed or infected pulp, carefully clean and shape the canal system and then seal the prepared space. Most treatment appointments range from 60-90 minutes (depending on the number of canals).

Once treatment is completed, you will need to return to your dentist for permanent reconstruction. The restoration of the tooth is an important part of saving your tooth  because it seals the cleaned canals from the oral environment, protects the tooth and restores it to function.

Retreatment

Retreatment is indicated if a previously root-canal treated tooth fails to heal properly or if a reoccurrent infection is evident. Depending on the circumstances, non-surgical or surgical treatment will be recommended.

Non-surgical retreatment involves recleaning and resealing the root canal system of your tooth, and is performed through the tooth, as opposed to the gum.

With surgical retreatment (Apicoectomy) we use a surgical operating microscope to remove the infected root tip of the diseased tooth. A root-end filling is placed to help prevent reinfection. This microsurgical approach allows for a smaller incision, less trauma to the surgical site, and faster healing.

IV Sedation

We are pleased to offer IV sedation for patients who would
appreciate additional comfort during their treatment.
